EastEnders Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 27 February 2017

Albert Square couldn’t have a quite pancake day now, could it? Nor could things magically improve for the Carter family? No, of course not! Here are the highlights from Walford!

Mick’s money worries ~ Mick (Danny Dyer) has been experiencing money worries from all angles and they’re not set to improve anytime soon. Being told that the Queen Vic as a business is a good and sound bet but that he as an individual is too much of a risk to lend money to – that is the final straw, I’d say. Mick Carter is a broken man and there doesn’t appear to be any way out of the financial mess he is buried beneath. Despite the various reports about Danny Dyer’s enforced leave from the show, I can’t know his portrayal of Mick.

Beale’s MOT ~ Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) takes a turn for the worse while participating in a pancake race, he has still not received his results following the MOT he undertook at the docs. The dizzy spell puts fear into Jane (Laurie Brett) and subsequently, he is going to man up and find out what the verdict is. Whether it be Diabetes or something more life threatning, I feel sure that Woodyatt will be the man for the job. His performance during the live episodes back in 2015 was nothing short of astonishing. Fingers crossed for nothing too serious for the hapless Mr Beale.

Denise’s decision ~ Denise makes her final decision to let her baby boy go to another family and it’s a heart breaking moment to watch. She has ultimately done what’s right for the little one, giving him a chance in life and she has also opened doors for herself by taking the step. Will her decision be one that she regrets in the future? I can’t think that she will never think of speak of her baby again, but then this is soap land… Hats off to Diane Parish for the way she has played this out. It’s not an easy subject to tackle and she has faced it head on. Brilliant!

Bex bares all? ~ Poor Bex (Jasmine Arnfield) is still suffering at the hands of the nasty piece of work that we know as Keegan (Zack Morris). The bully boy has taken it upon himself to add an image of her head onto an indecent image and what’s worse? Her dad has seen it! Will this lad stoop any lower? When will Bex’s luck change?

Kathy ~ I have always been a fan of the Beale family, in all of their varying incarnations, and the return of Gillian Taylforth was a favourable choice from the powers that be, as far as I was concerned. Once we got past the fact that Kathy wasn’t actually, because that was a bit of a creepy thought to start with. She has fitted in seamlessly, has a wicked sense of humour and I think Ian is going to need her. As he always does! Big thumbs up for a blast from the past who I hope is here to stay for a long time to come.
