*** Guest Blog by Chloe Buckles*** Neighbours ‘Ramsay Street’ Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 29 May 2017

My guest blogger Chloe did so brilliantly with the last guest blog for Neighbours, that I have asked her to become my regular guest blogger for the show. Who better than a super-fan to have on board to add to the telly blogging here at Break A Leg? So, for your delectation here are her highlights of last week’s episodes:

A fantastic week in Erinsborough. A trip to the shed ended up in the newest Ramsay Street Resident arriving, whilst Sonya made a solemn exit from the Street. A dramatic mixed bag, I’m sure you’ll agree Here are some highlights…

JACKIE WOODBURNE PLAYS SUSAN KENNEDY

Paige and Jack’s Shack ~ Apparently the ‘Love Shack’ has quite the hold on Paige as she is insistent she wants to revisit the place where her life changed. Yeah, I don’t get it either! With Susan and Piper in tow, they set off to the abandoned shed. But all is not well and Paige goes into early labour (rather quickly it would seem)! With Susan feeling increasingly unwell and Piper still recovering from the backpacker’s incident, all three of them are stranded and in great danger in the wilderness. Thankfully, help arrives in the form of guardian angels Dr Karl (of course) and Father Jack. Paige and Jack’s baby boy arrives – in a somewhat more dramatic fashion than your standard nativity but whilst we’re all breathing a sigh of relief, Paige falls unconscious and she’s rushed into hospital and straight into surgery, leaving Jack distraught at the thought of losing her. Confiding in Amy (a friendship I adore. by the way) he questions his future as a Priest (again!) and thinks it might be time to commit himself to Paige and his newly born son. Fast-forward a little while and Paige wakes to find mum Lauren by her bedside and the new mother and son finally get some time to meet and bond.

Susan’s been drugged! ~ Having offered to take Paige (and Piper) to the shack, Susan begins to feel unwell and woozy. She just about makes it as far as the shack, through the wilderness, to find out Paige is in labour. By the time she returns to the car she’s not looking so good and drifts in and out of consciousness, leaving poor Piper to drive to search for phone service. Once help arrives (the aforementioned guardian angels) Susan is admitted to hospital and tests done to determine whether she is suffering an MS relapse. When the results return it’s not MS Susan needs to worry about this time, but she appears to have been drugged! Everyone’s quick to assume a mistake has been made with her vitamins – that is until Elly hears the news, her mind jumps to just one person. But can she prove it?

Finn ~ We know he’s up to no good and playing dirty to get his way to the Principal’s job. So when Elly sets off to Sydney to dig up some dirt on Finn she finds it and assumes that he has a drug problem and that’s how Susan’s pills have been spiked. You’re way off the mark there Elly, but I’m more than ready for us to see Finn get his comeuppance. The only person on his side now is young and impressionable Xanthe, and it’s a manipulative relationship that certainly makes me feel very uncomfortable. The net is closing in, Finn! But who’s going to be the one to figure it all out?

Sonya leaves town ~ Having remembered that she is responsible for the Backpackers disaster, Sonya wants to apologise to all involved. However, her apology falls on deaf ears and there’s very little sympathy in the air for her situation. As Sonya gets lower and lower Toadie tries one last time to encourage her to give the two of them another go. In an honest, emotional and frank discussion they both admit their part in the situation – Sonya finally admitting that she railroaded Toadie into the surrogacy plan and takes responsibility for her part in the situation they now find themselves in. Concerned that too much has changed for anything to go back to how it was, Toadie tells Sonya they could leave Erinsborough together and tells her that he will always love her. But Sonya’s only heading to one place – rehab. Toadie is happy with this idea and it looks hopeful that the pair might reconcile. With half of the street watching on, Sonya departs. But when Toadie checks up on her later in the week, she’s checked herself out. With only one lead on where she might be (an old friend she knew in her previous life as an addict) Toadie is desperate to find her to stop her spiralling even further. Will he be able to convince her to come home?

Neighbours ‘Ramsay Street’ Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 22 May 2017

Neighbours has wrapped up the Backpackers drama rather rapidly and it seems that Brooke is off on her travels again – how long for this time? We’ll see… Here are a few highlights:

Xanthe’s birthday ~ It’s all about Xanthe’s birthday and Mr Kelly buys her a necklace so expensive that she claims that she purchased it herself from her savings – how much did it cost? You can tell that Ben smells a rat now and that Xanthe has the hots for her teacher rather than the boy next door. Dangerous territory!

Gary’s engaged ~ Despite the best efforts of Brooke and her cronies (Sheila and Xanthe) making a play for her ex doesn’t come off and it takes a nose dive when he manages to convince Terese to marry him! It’s hardly a plain sailing engagement at this early stage, though – Gary is still suspicious of Paul and Terese knows that she’s stepped on Brooke’s toes. Will the hapless couple make it to the alter. I think not!

Bye bye Brooke ~ With Gary engaged to Terese and the door closed (for now) as far as a reconciliation is concerned for Brooke, she takes off again – this time to be with her daughter, Jessie. I’m sure I can’t be alone in wondering if Jessie is set to land in Ramsay Street and Brooke will continue to make a play for ‘her’ man. For now it’s bye bye honey bunch!

Sonya did it! ~ The Backpackers is still recovering from the tragic accident that landed Piper and David in hospital, and now we know whodunit! Sonya was on a drunken and misguided mission to help her Nelly Fish. It was quite distressing to witness the flashback which Sonya experienced before announcing that she was the driver responsible. Toadie is hell bent on keeping her out of prison and Steph and Mark have already tried to do their bit to cover up what they had long suspected. It’s going to be a tough long road ahead, regardless of the burned shoes (a strange choice of BBQ food.. !).

Toadie ~ I just want to take this ‘highlight’ to discuss Toadie, I feel that Ryan Moloney has come into his own as the years have moved on. Toadie must be like a second skin to him now. However, I will just say that the character we know and love doesn’t seem to have much awareness of the seriousness of his actions when it comes to his dalliance with fake Dee. Does anyone else feel that he is acting as though it should just be brushed under the carpet? Come on Toadie! Although I do think he’ll have his moment to shine now that Sonya is in trouble with the law.

Neighbours ‘Ramsay Street’ Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 1 May 2017

Ramsay Street has very definitely seen it all this week, tragedy at The Backpackers, Finn steps up his campaign and drags Xanthe along with him – here are some highlights…

Tragedy strikes! ~ While Piper and David are minding their own business in the Backpackers, Amy’s ute ploughs on through and causes devastation in its wake. Who was in the driver’s seat is unclear – but both victims are in a bad way in hospital and Piper is going to be in rehab for a long time. Bad times!

Finn ~ Finn is becoming a looser canon by the second, Elly appears to have worked him out but Xanthe is falling foul of his charms and following a dangerous path. Just what is his game and is he really ill?

Sonya’s downward spiral ~ Sonya is continuing on her downward spiral and Mark is trying so hard to step in and put an end to it – he still harbours very strong feelings which are not reciprocated. I doubt that her attendance at AA is quite enough given the recent events that have affected this change in the once steady Sonya.

Terese’s torment ~ Terese is mithering in case Gary is heading back to his ex and her plan to fix Brooke up with Paul has failed. It’s not the case, of course, unwitting Gary is merely a pawn in Brooke’s game to get her daughter, Jessie, back – but Terese’s paranoia spirals out of control when her man presents her with flowers and Sheila’s words of wisdom resonate in her mind.

Paige’s predicament ~ Whether it’s because her hormones are flying around even more wildly than usual, or because she truly hasn’t lost her feelings for Mark – but Paige is falling for the love-lorn copper. Methinks she’s barking up the wrong tree!

Neighbours Ramsay Street Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 10 April 2017

Ramsay Street is scarcely drawing breath after Brad and Lauren’s departure – proving that life does go on even after two major characters have left (OK, I’m still dwelling on this, I liked them, I miss them…) – here are a few highlights from a jam-packed week:

Back to the booze ~ Sonya (Eve Morey) hasn’t been sleeping, no surprise really with her miscarriage and witnessing her husband betraying her. However, the demon drink has beckoned to her and it looks as though it’s taken a hold when she answers the door to Mark (Scott McGregor) with a bleary eyes. It’s clear she’s suffering from a hangover. Slippery slope, Sonya!

Sonya & Mark ~ Sonya and Mark have been on the brink of moving their friendship forward for a while, now. Toadie (Ryan Moloney) is already suspicious of the pair. It appears that they are about to take the step that we’ve seen coming when a kiss is initiated, while they’re both lying on Sonya’s bed. However, Sonya puts a stop to it! Surprisingly, I have to say – unsurprisingly, Mark is put out. However, I still can’t ‘see’ them as a couple and Mark is actually irritating me with his pining for what I don’t think he should be having!

Brooke’s back! ~ Brooke (Fifi Box) reappears in Ramsay Street, seemingly after Sheila’s (Colette Mann) drunken message asking for her to return! However, although she claims to be back for her daughter, Xanthe (Lilly Van Der Meer) – a text from a mystery sender tends to suggest otherwise. Her return is not altogether a popular one, that’s for sure.

Leo struggles ~ Leo (Tim Kano) is struggling, not only with the news that his dad is Paul (Stefan Dennis) who is not his favourite person – what an understatement! He is also not finding it easy to move on from Amy (Zoe Cramond) wheras she seems to have coped with the news slightly more admirably. On the outside she looks as though she is coping with it, anyway…

Paul embraces fatherhood ~ Paul is delighted with the news that he is a father to David (Takaya Honda) and Leo. He embraces it and offers to take his ‘family’ out to dinner. David (who also comes out to his brother, which is met with a joyous response!) is also keen to give it a go, but Leo is going to take much longer to get on side.

Neighbours Ramsay Street Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 3rd April 2017

Ramsay Street has been rife with comings, goings and revelations this week. I’m so sad that Brad (Kip Gamblin) and Lauren (Kate Kendall) – they were fast becoming some of my favourites and now they’ve gone to the Gold Coast. At least the door is left open for them to return… Meanwhile, here are a few of the key moments from this week’s instalments:

Paul’s the daddy ~ Leo (Tim Kano) and Amy (Zoe Cramond) were getting rather cosy, extremely close for comfort given that us viewers were aware that some sort of incest would have been taking place if they’d gone as far as they almost did! Paul (Stefan Dennis) and Kim (Jenny Young) burst in at just the right moment. Conveniently, or imagine the fall-out? David (Tayaka Honda) also arrives at the same opportune moment and hears the revelation. Paul is their father, oh this is going down so well! I am rubbing my hands together with glee, anyway!

Easter extremes ~ Paige (Olympia Valance) and Jack (Andrew Morley) are not exactly the most popular ‘pair’ the neighbourhood, and wilful destruction of the Easter display in Harrold’s Café seems to point in the direction of disgruntled parishioners. Although it does transpire that a young kid who’s mother is disapproving and doesn’t allow him to have chocolate had just decided to steal an egg and ended up with a landslide. Is this an end to the problem the parents to be face? I doubt it!

Terese vs Sheila ~ Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou) puts Gary (Damien Richardson) in a bad mood when she appears to be siding with Sheila (Colette Mann) over him. However, when his new beau’s plan is revealed, he can see the sense in her agreeing with his mother from time to time. Playing the game there, Terese!

Sonya & Mark ~ Sonya (Eve Morey) is having sleeping problems, naturally and Mark (Scott McGregor) is also awake and texting his ex-surrogate. His message prompts the a grieving Sonya to hop across the road and spend the night at his house. Toadie (Ryan Moloney) jumps to conclusions of course, but will Sonya and Mark really head for a full blown romance? I just don’t see it!

Farewell (I hope it’s Au Revoir!) ~ So long, farewell to Lauren and Brad, fast becoming firm favourites of mine. It doesn’t really feel like the right time for them to exit so I hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of them. They’re leaving Paige behind for starters so I am keeping my fingers crossed that a visit to their grandchild will be good enough reason to bring them back when the time is right. I shed a tear when they left, I won’t lie… sob….

Neighbours Ramsay Street Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 27 March 2017

Ramsay Street was an emotional place to be last week. There were tears, it was dramatic, traumatic and there were stellar performances from all involved. Here are the highlights:

Toadie’s Coming Home ~ Toadie (Ryan Moloney) is desperate to hear Sonya’s (Eve Morey) voice, but she’s refusing to answer his calls. He anxiously boards the plane home with Karl (Alan Fletcher) and can’t possibly anticipate the wrath that awaits him. Although he surely knows the news isn’t going to be good!

Sonya can’t forgive ~ Susan (Jackie Woodburne) gives the news to Sonya that Toadie and Karl’s flight won’t land in time for the memorial, but Sonya doesn’t care and won’t delay. Mark (Scott McGregor) is naturally behind her all the way! He’s getting on my nerves a bit with his behaviour, I just can’t see Sonya and Mark making the sort of couple that Toadie and Sonya make. It’s obvious that forgiving her devastated husband is the last thing on Sonya’s mind though as Nell is informed of the new living arrangements. Can they recover from this?

The Kennedys ~ The Kennedys take Toadie in, of course! It’s just like old times, although not half so happy and care free as back then, obviously. Toadie’s infidelity unpicks old wounds belonging to Karl and Susan following Karl’s naughties and it’s quite harrowing to see Susan break down when she discusses the impact that this will have on Toadie’s relationship with his wife.

Sheila’s sozzled ~ Sheila (Colette Mann) is in disgrace as she gets well and truly sozzled during a meal that is being prepared by Gary (Damien Richardson). Boozed up Sheila decides that sending a message to Brooke (Gary’s ex wife is the way forward) and regret most definitely follows! What can be done about Sheila and her misdemeanours? Nothing I hope! I think she’s a hoot!

Finn finished? ~ Finn (Rob Mills) has been an unwelcome guest as far as Elly (Jodi Anasta) has been concerned, however when she all but pushes him down some steps in the final episode of the week, it looks as though she has seen him off for good. What has Elly done now?

Neighbours Ramsay Street Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 20th March 2017

Ramsay Street and London have been the settings for last week’s episodes and they were some of the most harrowingly squirm-worthy and dramatic episodes to date. Here are the highlights, it’s been difficult to pick just a few:

Mark’s dream….

Dee Discovered ~ What could be worse than travelling to London to track down your presumed deceased wife, and your newly discovered daughter? Sleeping with your presumed deceased wife, in front of the online call that you failed to disconnect, the call that you had just engaged in with your wife? Oh and after that horror, of which Toadie (Ryan Moloney) is already ashamed of, that’s before he knows about Sonya’s (Eve Morey) viewing experience – you then find out that Dee (Madeleine West) is not Dee, but Andrea. A friend of Sindi Watts (Marisa Warrington) who had met the stand-in Dee and encouraged this whole debacle to start. It’s Susan (Jackie Woodburne) who has started to suspect foul play, the discovery from Sindi’s mobile phone that Dee is also known as Andrea sent the nosey neighbour on a quest to uncover the truth. Cutting to the chase, Toadie has landed himself in hospital having run out in front of a vehicle in panic following his exploits. Then just to add insult quite literally to injury, in strolls Karl (Alan Fletcher) with news of Dee’s true identity. What a pickle! Plus Toadie finds out that Sonya knew about his misdemeanour, because she saw it begin to unfold. Arrrrgggh!

Sonya ~ What more can I say except… Sonya? The poor love has not only witnessed her husband getting it on with an imposter, but in heart-breaking scenes she ends up in hospital and the unthinkable happens. Mark’s (Scott McGregor) baby is lost. I have to applaud Morey for an amazing performance, she has surpassed herself throughout the recent plot-lines.

Mark’s dreams ~ Prior to the tragic loss of his baby, Mark is lying on the bed with Sonya (the fact of which Nel has already reported to her dad over the phone) and while Sonya is dreaming of a happy reunion with Toadie, Mark is dreaming of declaring his love for her. Will Mark confront his feelings?

Elly side-lined ~ Elly (Jodi Anasta) is already on the rampage when it comes to Finn (Rob Mills) and his re-appearance in her life and in the school she works in. However, he is set to tread of her toes again as he charms his way into Xanthe’s (Lilly Van Der Meer) good books and she chooses him as her new tutor to help her with Science. Of course he offers to help with English too which sees off Miss Conway. Beyond angry with the situation, Elly confronts him, but one things for sure, he’s not going anywhere soon.

Break A Leg Awards 2017 ~ I’d just like to take this opportunity to announce that Chloe Buckles, one of our assistants for this year’s Break A Leg Awards has nominated Eve Morey for the long-listed Best Actress on Television nominations. Short-listing takes place in the autumn so there’s a while to go before it is decided if she will be in the running for the award. However, if she is short-listed you can vote for her in the public vote, details of which will be announced nearer the time.

Neighbours Ramsay Street Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 13th March 2017

Is it the beginning of the end for ‘Dee’s’ (Madeleine West) merry dance as she leaves Toadie (Ryan Moloney) hanging and takes off with the girl he believes is his daughter? Elly’s (Jodi Anasta) past returns to haunt her and Terese’s (Rebekah Elmaloglou) involvement with the Canning family is exploited. Here are some Ramsay Street highlights:

Elly and Finn – friends reunited?

‘Dee’ departs ~ Dee/Andrea decides to do a runner this week, she packs her bags leaving a sizeable unpaid tab behind her (surprise surprise!) and taking Willow (Mieke Billingham-Smith) with her. Toadie had only just put a plan in place for Willow to stay with him and his family whenever she liked. He’s hurt and wondering if it’s his rejection of ‘Dee’ has caused this next stage of the drama. His misplaced guilt leads him to confess to Sonya that his ‘deceased wife’ has told him she still loves him. Another chink appears in the fragile Rebecchi marriage. I had wondered if Willow was going to reveal all when she left a farewell note for her ‘dad’, however their subsequent telephone communication results in the troubled teen telling Toadie she loves him. A tangled web? You betcha!

Finn-ished? ~ Elly is thrown into turmoil when her ex fellar, Finn (Rob Mills) arrives as a teacher at Erinsborough High. She immediately tells him to resign without so much as a bye your leave. Susan (Jackie Woodburne) is shocked by this development and turns to Mark (Scott McGregor) to find out more about her niece’s situation with the man she clearly hold a grudge against. I always mistrust Elly so I wonder if she is Snow White in all of this?

Xanthe’s up to mischief!

Xanthe takes the proverbial ~ Terese’s relationship with Xanthe’s dad leads to the cheeky madam running up a bill for anything that takes her fancy. She claims that she thought the hotel would cover it, but I suspect she’s playing a cannier game than that. Methinks Xanthe is protecting her dad, Gary (Damien Richardson) – but Terese is unlikely to stand for this nonsense. Are the swords drawn for good?

Tyler’s torment ~ The week ended on Tyler being told he’d gotten the sack! Not good news for him and his love-nest. Uh oh!

Axed? ~ In the news today, Neighbours might face the axe in Britain!!! Oh my word! Please can I move to Australia if that’s the case? I’ll be sure to sig the petition and hope that Channel Five can reach a satisfactory deal on this! Here’s the petition if you want to sign it too: Don’t Axe Neighbours!

Neighbours Ramsay Street Round-Up ~ Week Commencing 6th March 2017

Ramsay Street round-up, I will say for this week’s Neighbours that there has been a distinct lack of the mention of sausages! As well as more developments in the Toadie/Dee/Willow saga, which apparently has longer to run, yet! Here are a few highlights:

Piper’s problems ~ Piper’s (Mavournee Hazel) problems worsen as Elly (Jodi Anasta) continues her pursuit of the teen following the fake ID debacle. A stern talking to from Auntie Susan (Jackie Woodburne) results in Piper’s withdrawal from her work experience placement. However, there is still the small matter of Willow’s (Mieke Billing-Smith) involvement and her blackmailing of Elly to contend with. Piper has got herself mixed up in an unfortunate series of events, hasn’t she?

Dee’s deception ~ Dee’s (Madeleine West) or indeed Andrea’s (still Madeleine West!) plans hot up further this week with her insistence on pursuing Toadie (Ryan Moloney) reaching boiling point. A declaration of ‘feelings’ and stirring Sonya (Eve Morey) and Mark’s (Scott McGregor) encounter up adds more fuel to her fire, but Toadie seems to be seeing through her. He is able to reason his way out of any paranoia that she is creating in relation to Mark and Sonya. So that’s a start, Toadie!

Sonya’s sonogram ~ Sonya’s sonogram shows that she is growing a healthy little girl and while she is eager to share this news with Toadie, of course Mark needs to be privy to the outcome. He is naturally over-joyed and as I mentioned above, there’s a pair of prying eyes trying to use this encounter to her advantage with Sonya’s husband!

Gary & Terese ~ It’s all systems go for Gary (Damien Richardson) and Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou) when they move their relationship up a notch and Terese is taken to a family ‘get together’ at the Canning house. With Sheila (Colette Mann) as head of the family, it’s always going to make for interesting viewing when you introduce Terese into the mix. Sheila has a bee in her bonnet about her Son’s choice of partner. However, will Terese return to Paul’s (Stefan Dennis) arms again for a full blown relationship?

Steph’s solved the mystery ~ Steph (Carla Bonner) finally uncovers that it’s Victoria’s (Claudia Greenstone) daughter, Josie who’s tampering with her motorbike – I don’t think we needed a crystal ball or spoilers to bring us to that conclusion. What will happen next in the doomed relationship that Ms Scully is embarking upon? No good is gonna come from this!
